A cool historical place. The residence of the sultans. The inspection took 5 hours. There are a lot of terraces and beautiful landscaped corners. The harem, madrasah, treasury and all other areas of the life of the sultans of the past are very well covered. It is located in the historical center.
One of the most interesting places on earth, will not leave you indifferent! After watching the magnificent Century series, there was a great desire to visit the palace and Istanbul in general
The ticket cost 650 lire, the entrance to the palace and the entrance to the harem, beautiful, interesting, of course it is better to walk with a guide, it costs another 50 euros!
There are sooo many tourists, but the guide took other paths and we did not meet with groups of tourists!
1) Come to the opening! By 12 o'clock, there are already crowds, like during rush hour in transport - this is not a metaphor, but a good example... the queue for the audio guide will be 20-30 minutes, at the ticket office - free.
2) if you go by yourself, then collect the information beforehand. The audio guide is about nothing at all. At most, you will be guided by the scheme (((
3) I am not impressed, alas... perhaps because of the mentioned crowds...
but I was in Bakhchisarai earlier.. I liked it much more and there were quite a few people there... the idea of architecture and the organization of life of the Oriental style are quite comparable.
And I don't watch TV and TV series ... (As many write in the reviews) so maybe I didn't say Ah-Oh ...
Here is the price /quality ratio, information is a maximum of one on any scale. (950 rubles with a harem and a church, 750 without a harem, the course is 26.6-26.8 rubles. at the time of the visit).
In the Diamond Fund and in the Museum of the East, and if you were also in the Hermitage, then you definitely saw more ....
And yes, I understand that the museum has lost a lot of territories, including, but taking into account prices (mostly foreigners visit) and such passability is frenzied.... and an informative audio guide can be made in all languages (for the Portuguese there was not even one available) and restoration can be carried out and closed spaces can be opened for normal cafes inside... in general....
It's good at least to take pictures with almost prohibitions hanging everywhere ...
In the reviews they regret the sultan's previously closed chambers for restoration - they didn't lose anything if you are not a religious Muslim... from the word Quite - the relics of this religion are on display. Nothing else....
4) and another "lovely" moment. The price in the Harem separately - inside - 350Lir))) keep in mind....
By the way, the ticket is valid here only for ONE DAY (against a week in Dolmabakhche with a harem and an art museum - I recommend it). I didn't have enough time to familiarize myself with the crowds from 10 to 17.30 (the harem didn't fit, I just didn't go to Irina's church, seeing the building from the outside, and I lost my ticket in the process))))my husband said that there was nothing to look at, according to his photo - only the skeleton of an architectural structure... Dolmabahce with the harem and the art museum took 2 leisurely days with lunch and not an early rise. And yes, I look at museums and come back to something... The chips are not ready for computer scanning in my head yet))))
P.S. for people with limited mobility, this is hell.... they will not get to some places if they are not carried on their hands ((( there is NO equipment AT ALL!!! And stairs, steps, thresholds, etc. at every step...
Not to mention the SLIPPERY glass covering covering the floor, behind the sultan's chambers (where the fountains are), I slipped well on it, and the aged lady fell well... and no warnings at all, and the rise is completely invisible((
Be careful!
If you choose to go or not, then go to understand the people and the roots of the mentality of the locals... But this is provided WITHOUT visiting the museum))
It is better to stay in Dolmabakhche for the full price... but that's with my background...
I heard from one person that Topkapi is about history, and Dolmabahce is about watching. So there's no story here unless you get it yourself. According to reviews, you also need to find a guide... what in our (Russian) view is called an Excursion is with a visitor / museum employee - there are no such people here at all.... I heard out of the corner of my ear what the local guides tell me - about an audio guide))
The museum is clearly not worth the money that is being asked for a ticket.
The buildings are often haphazard, each one is quite pretty individually, but in general there is no single ensemble. According to the audio guide (also quite mediocre), the beauty of the palace was measured in kilograms of precious metals. Now the jewels can be viewed in two "storerooms". To get there, you need to stand in two queues, each for 40 minutes. What is taken inside is not worth this waiting time.
Great hope was pinned on the harem, but it also disappointed. For the most part, these are small rooms with remnants of former greatness on the walls. There are a couple of nice state halls and a couple of beautiful courtyards, but again they don't cost money for a ticket.
The ticket is 650 liras/person (summer 2023). Complex of palace buildings, harem, St. Irene. It does not meet expectations, but if you have time and do not mind the money (especially with your family), then it's worth going. Cash desks after the passage of metal detectors, on the left - at the St. Irina, or on the right in front of the second gate. If there are no people by the opening, it is comfortable to walk, it is better to leave St. Irina at the end of the visit. The second entrance / exit to the territory is from the side of the archaeological museum, which is exactly where you should definitely go. Well, if you are an economical "caretaker" of attractions, do not forget about the Istanbul pass and the museum map. Ask for an audio guide when buying a ticket.
The entrance fee is 1500 liras, it's expensive. But it's 100% worth it. We have prepared, we have come to the opening, while there are no crowds of Chinese tourists flowing along the Topkapi River! The views are gorgeous, the history of the palace is centuries-old! You must see the Topcaps!

This is one of the places in Istanbul for a mandatory visit. The only thing I would like to note is that the audio guide is free, they give you a phone number on which you put the object number and listen to the description, it is not long, no more than a minute.
But in order to take it, it is necessary to take a deposit, it is either money or a passport or a license, the audio guide phone does not always turn on at certain locations and to listen to the description you need to put the phone to your ear or turn on the sound at maximum and this will interfere with others. You can also take your headphones and follow the QR code and listen to the tour, but we did not check how it works, since the headphones were not taken.
I dreamed of definitely visiting here, touching at least a little bit of history. And now it has happened! The cost of visiting the palace is 950 Turkish lira, this includes the cost of an audio guide. A visit to the harem is not included in the price. If possible, I advise you to go.
A must-visit. Preferably with a guide . It 's instructive . I recommend

A place that must be visited while in Istanbul. If you decide to buy a "Museum Map" in order not to stand in line, you can buy it at the Museum of Archaeology, which is located here just below in the direction of Gulhane Park. There are no queues. And yes, if you decide to use the audio guide, do not forget to take any documents with you (for example, rights). You will have to leave them as collateral.
It was beautiful, but very expensive for 750 lire, two weeks later my mother and I came to show her, we were already 950 lire with a museum card, we additionally pay 350 lire for visiting the harem. By the way, in the cafe there is a discount for those who have a kimlik or ikamet card, which they do not talk about at all and rip off full)) Am I saying Inderim? They are like this, it's only for Turks😄I show the document, reluctantly looks at it and makes a discount) well, there was ice cream for 120 lira, was it really such a pity to break through the discount😅
A very beautiful place!
Fans of the Magnificent Century must visit the harem. Thank you to my husband for agreeing to visit this wonderful historical place together!
Entrance to the First Courtyard is free, however, the visit time is limited from 9 to 19 hours and is carried out on all days of the week except Tuesdays. You can only get into the First Courtyard of Topkapi for free. Tickets will be required to see the rest of the palace. The ticket offices are located in the First Courtyard, in its right part. In my opinion, this palace should be left to the last turn, when everyone has already looked around.
A gorgeous palace where you can walk all day. The audio guide is free, you need to leave documents or $ 100 as a deposit.
It is better to come to the opening itself by 9 am to see the main premises without a crowd of tourists / schoolchildren.
The treasury is very beautiful and has wonderful views of the Bosphorus.

A huge complex, enough to visit for half a day. Ticket prices are crazy, but it's definitely worth a visit. The audio guide is interesting, there are a lot of halls and buildings. Long queues for relics and jewelry.
A museum with a large territory. Each building has its own museum. There are a lot of antiques. I especially liked the museum with jewelry and weapons.
Crowds of tourists. Small rooms. There is no clear route. Scattered entrances around the perimeter.
It's completely uninteresting and not worth the money.
Dolmabahce Castle is much more interesting.
A delightful palace with an oriental flavor. I was surprised by the austerity of the harem's premises. At the same time, the sultan's chambers are luxurious.
The main Museum of Istanbul. It is better to visit on Monday. It is advisable to come 20 minutes before the opening. The work starts at 9. In this case, you will be comfortable and will not be disturbed by numerous tourists.
The Sultan's family lived here until the middle of the 19th century. The museum's collection is immense - first of all, objects of the sultan's life and everyday life, Muslim relics. A separate fee is charged for visiting the harem. But his device is interesting mainly to specialists.
The place is amazing, there are many beautiful things to see. And the view from above of the ships is amazing. I really liked it. It's a pity there aren't enough benches, my legs get tired quickly. I recommend it!
Very expensive entrance tickets for tourists. In January 2024, the ticket price for 1 person was 1,500 Turkish lira. It is better to choose a day with good weather for a trip to the palace.
The visit is included in the Istanbul museum map.
Many rooms were not entered (the Sultan's chambers are among them).
It is quite cool in the rooms and the whole way the question was, how did they not freeze?, in halls and rooms made of stone and tiles..
In general, it is informative - the life of men and women in the era of the sultanate, which may have been magnificent, but rather creepy for the latter (to be limited in movement, to wait for days for someone, something).
Make your conclusion)
We were in March. We lived nearby and saw what crowds were gathering, so we came to the opening for a visit. There were 3 minutes in the queue. The ticket has become very expensive 650 rubles- 2600 rubles . Have you ever seen such prices in museums in Moscow or St. Petersburg? In short, we were shocked! Well, okay....
We were 3 minutes behind in the second queue for the audio guide (again, why not give it right at the checkout?)
We went to the territory through the turnstile without queuing)
Topkapi is an open-air complex. Much is still hidden from the eyes of tourists, it is under restoration.
The audio guide is very bad (compared to other museum complexes), I think for such money we must make it more informative and interesting. And as if on purpose to take a guide!
The complex itself is majestic and atmospheric, it was interesting for us to wander. There are few museum exhibits (weapons and household items) in separate rooms, most of all in the kitchen.
I repeat, there was a great lack of information.
I definitely recommend it for viewing, but it may be better to choose a guided tour.

This is a masterpiece) I recommend that you first watch at least a little of the Magnificent Century series and then visit to plunge into this atmosphere! There are no words, only emotions. It's only a little expensive 1,700 lire per person, but it's definitely worth it!
We were at the palace in April 2023. The ticket price is 650 lire, it includes the palace, the harem, the church of St. Irene. The queue for tickets is long, but in about 15 minutes we bought a ticket. If you need an audio guide, you will have to stand in the same queue, because they are issued elsewhere. When we were here, the most interesting part of the harem was the Sultan's chambers, the Hurrem was closed for restoration, as well as many other rooms. Therefore, for the most part, the tour consists of an inspection of the buildings from the outside, you can enter a limited number of rooms inside. Therefore, there are two opinions left, because, to be honest, it is not very clear what you paid the money for if the most interesting thing is not available
Nicely. Expensive. The park is not very good. Clear. The sea is nearby. The road to the temple through the old town is beautiful. Authentic shops, places, friendly people
The palace is magnificent, there are no words, but first you have to stand in line for tickets for more than an hour. Ticket prices are horse-drawn.... at the rate of more than $ 35. For the ticket. Then stand in line for each exhibition. If God forbid, you are thirsty, you can buy water for $ 4!!
If you don't want to be one of the 5000m. As a visitor, I'm not exaggerating, come at 9.00, just later it's tin from the human sea
I was disappointed with the complex. It's better to watch the TV series Magnificent Century - it's more beautiful there)))) An inadequate price for a tourist.
An interesting place with an impressive history. Admission per person is 1500 liras. We took an audio guide, which is practically useless, there is information in Russian, but it seemed insufficient, dry facts. I regretted that they did not take a guide with a tour.
We went as part of an excursion group. The palace is very large and beautiful. I saw people with an audio guide. There are a lot of people and long queues at the entrance of the expositions.
Tickets, like everywhere else in Istanbul, are quite expensive. Translated into rubles, without visiting the harem, it turned out to be about 2000 rubles per person. We visited the harem for an additional 1,100₽ without a harem, but now I regret it. An audio guide is provided at the entrance. It is in Russian and without payment, but you need to leave some kind of document as a deposit. The territory is quite large, there is something to see. For an inspection of at least 4 hours. In addition to Palaces, buildings and internal expositions, the terrace offers a magnificent view of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn Bay. The place is definitely worth a visit.
A magical place with incredible energy. Come to the opening to avoid crowds of tourists, I also advise you to find an opportunity to use the services of a guide, it's worth it, believe me
You can buy a ticket at the entrance, after inspection in 1 yard.It is better to take a comprehensive one to visit everything. You can also get an audio guide there. After entering the 2nd courtyard, you can visit the Church of Irina on the left side, then a Sofa, a harem, numerous pavilions, a reliquarium, a kitchen, an exhibition of porcelain and tableware. The treasury has not been restored for several years. New rooms are gradually being added to the harem. It is better to come in the morning to visit, it works from 9 o'clock. Huge queues are built in during the day and the waiting time for entry can take more than 1-2 hours. During the visit, you will see how the Turkish sultans lived in the 15th and 18th centuries. This is one of the familiar places of Istanbul.
Beautiful architecture, a large park for walking. For general development, it is very interesting to visit, but the price is not objectively overpriced.
